News Fixtures Information
Attention all table tennis lovers!
The first season of play at Moreton Bay will commence on January 28th and run for approximately seven weeks.
Please ensure you REGISTER YOUR INTEREST (NOMINATE) BY EMAIL, to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Be sure to include which night you are available (Mon, Wed, or BOTH).
IMPORTANT: If you don't wish to be in a team but would like to be contacted when a sub is needed please indicate that in your email.
Nominations close at midnight on January 23rd.
All players nominating in the comp must ensure that they have paid their 2019 annual Membership.
Membership fee: $98.80 (concession $91.10) or $35 if already TTQ registered via another club.
For those not playing fixtures but wanting to join MBTTA as a Social player, the annual fee is $56.45.
The exact fixture fees for the season will be announced after we get the numbers in, and teams have then been selected.
It will be a one-off fee and will cover ALL nights for this first fixture competition (i.e. you will not have to pay to play each night).
We expect this season's fee will be in the vicinity of $60 - 70 (or $48 -56 for Concession).
You will probably have noticed that the collection of our fixture fees has changed. You now pay them at the beginning of the season rather than each night. Apart from simplifying things for everyone we are also wanting to encourage all players to turn up and meet their commitment to the competition whenever possible!
Based on a number of comments we received at the end of last season we have now tried to respond to your feedback; hence, fees for semi-finals and finals are now included in the cost structure. If you are not in the final/s you and your teammates are welcome (encouraged!) to come along for a hit on those nights without incurring any additional fee.
A Reminder about Why we have changed the way we collect fixture fees:
Prior to Oct 2018 players paid their fixture fees night by night. And many players did this each and every week! Unfortunately though when someone didn't make it (for whatever reason) on their allocated night we weren't able to collect the regular fees. Although the 'missing players' or our Organisers often sourced a replacement (and we were therefore able to recoup a portion of the 'lost' fee), there were also times that this wasn't possible.
For parts of 2018 we had quite a few players away at various times, resulting in disruptions to the respective competitions. Finding replacement players (often at short notice) was very time-consuming for organisers; not to mention also rather frustrating for both the teams affected as well as the Club!
Hence the Committee has resolved to change things, as follows:
1. Rather than increase playing fees, we changed to a system where players 'pay for their place in the comp'. This was done via a one-off payment, collected at the beginning of each season. As a result of this change, there is no longer an option for players who are placed in a fixture team to pay only for the nights that they attended.
(We do realise that there are many legitimate reasons for being away on an occasional fixture night. We don't wish for this change to be seen as a penalty, but moreso, a shifting of responsibility for collecting the fee!)
2. We're now also looking to trial a further change to the substitute system. We will be asking that YOU (or your team) find a Substitute when you can't make it along on a particular night.
To help with this, we'll provide a list of players and a simple rule for selecting a Sub; designed to ensure that wherever possible the Sub is of a similar standard to the player they are replacing. We'll also encourage potential subs to be at the hall on the night, particularly for those 'short notice' situations. As long as the Sub satisfies the Sub rules their matches will be counted toward your team and individual results. And we suggest that your 'replacement' compensate you directly for the night's fee.
(Where you might still need our help finding a Sub at short notice we will still do our best to assist! )
