FURTHER IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM MBTTA
(Monday 23/03/2020)

FOR IMMEDIATE ATTN: Current Members & intending guests of the Moreton Bay Table Tennis Association Inc.

RE: Announcement re Temporary Closure of MBTTA's Centenary Lakes venue, Caboolture; from Monday 23/03/2020
[Please note this Announcement supersedes the previous "President's Update" dated 21/03/2020]

Dear Members and guests;

As many of you may have seen or heard about since last night, the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, made a public statement on Sunday night; where he announced a raft of further, "Stage 1" measures as had been agreed upon by the National Cabinet earlier that day. The increased "social distancing measures" included in Mr Morrison's statements appear to be quite far-reaching; and will certainly impact significantly on us and many of our fellow Australian citizens.
Sporting Associations have been specifically included in this new announcement, and - of most relevance to us as a Club which is responsible for managing an "indoor sporting venue" - there is now a Government directive that we are restricted from opening; effective Monday, 23rd March, from 12 noon.

The following is a link to the Prime Minister's Media Statement:
The link to the transcript from the Prime Minister's 22/3/2020 Press Conference:

Based on the announcement we must therefore now confirm the temporary closure of our Centenary Lakes playing venue effective from 12 noon today (Monday 23/03/2020).
Obviously further guidance and information is likely to be provided to us and other sports clubs in due course; which we will endeavour to update our Members on as soon as practical to do so. Our current understanding is that these measures are to be reviewed at least monthly by the Government / National Cabinet; but the initial statements which have been released have suggested that these new measures (or similar) may last for several months.

The Committee will also now endeavour to seek guidance on what ramifications this Government Announcement has regarding the upcoming MBTTA A.G.M. (which as you may recall is currently scheduled for this Friday, 27th March). Again, we will aim to advise any further changes to our Members as soon as practical to do so.

The Committee of MBTTA wishes to again sincerely thank everyone who has previously patronised and supported our Club; and we trust that we may be able to welcome you back to join us at some time (hopefully) in the near future.

In the meantime, we urge everyone to stay safe and to please continue to support and consider your fellows; and likewise, we hope that you and your families and other loved ones can enjoy the best of health as much as possible.

Yours in sport, and with our very best wishes;

Anthony Jeffress
MBTTA President
On behalf of the MBTTA Committee
